Lecithin is a Greek word meaning egg yolk and the reason for naming it is the existing of a great amount of lecithin in the egg yolk and also the substance was first discovered in egg yolk. Lecithin is in group of phospholipids and often is known as phosphatidylcholine. Lecithin is a phospholipid that is found in all living things. It is a mixture of di glycerides of fatty acids of stearic, palmitic and oleic with ester choline of phosphoric acid. The body is capable of making lecithin, in addition, lecithin can be found in many meals.
