Butyl Glycol

Butyl Glycol Specification

A material with a high boiling point, low volatility and gentle smell which is used as solvent and starting material for the synthesis. It is excellent solvent assistant in aqueous coating systems (water-based paints), colorless, low humidity absorbent. This product can mix well with water and the conventional organic solvents at room temperature.

Applications of Butyl Glycol

Butyl Glycol usage
  • Coating industry: butyl glycol is used as a solvent with low volatility to accelerate the drying time and expanding the fluidity.A small amount of butyl glycol increases the capability of dyeing, for example in resin alkyd paints, and also reduces the viscosity.as a coagulant assistant butyl glycol can be significantly lower the minimum film forming temperature (MFFT) and increase the flow in many paint drying systems. Butyl Glycol increases the evaporation of volatile components, for example drying occurs in enamel furnaces at high temperatures or infrared.
  • A solvent in printing inks for leather color and …
  • A material in surface cleaners for example in cleaning grease from metal surfaces
  • Material in hydraulic fluids
  • A material in drilling and cutting oil (strong solvent)
  • A starting material in the preparation of butyl glycol acetate which is an excellent solvent.
  • A starting material in the production of softeners, for example, by reaction with phthalic acid
